Add European dart playing to the list of sports where boys steal titles from girls by pretending to be one. Or, "identifying" as one because of being born in the wrong body and yackity schmackity. Two Dutch players quit the team after trans teammate Noa-Lynn van Leuven crushed the competition, two weeks after competing as a man.
That was the women's competition from over the weekend. Outkick is reporting Noa-Lynn ALSO took home the men's title at the Professional Darts Corporation Challenge Tour two weeks ago. Unclear is if Noah took home the men's title, then Lynn took home the women's title. There could be something lost in translation. At least when Will Thomas announced he was going to start competing as Lia Thomas, there was a summer break in between. Going male to female in two weeks stretches the bounds of what we're expected to accept as reality. Yes, even in 2024.
Unamused by this are Noa and/or Lynn's teammates, two of whom quit in protest. Anca Zijlstra stated on Facebook that she was ashamed to play for the Dutch Team because a biological man plays for the women’s team: "I have tried to accept this, but I cannot condone this. I believe that in sports there should be an equal and fair playing field, which should be used and accepted in good faith."
The internet has started rallying around Katie Sheldon, the 20-year-old people believe had the women's title stolen from her. You know, what with her being a woman and the older, bigger, and stronger van Leuven not.
Women's sports expert Martina Navratilova agrees that Sheldon was robbed, and thinks it stinks.
You can add darts to the list of sports that men (who claim to be women) are better at. Including skateboarding, billiards, running, boxing, etc.
